Most of the batteries sold into the market use grids produced by expanded metal technology. These grids are submitted to corrosion and expansion phenomena that deteriorate them since the interruption of their function, the engine cranking. This kind of grid looks alike a mesh, however, has not a frame able to offer a better mechanical resistance, essential in a situation where the car, and therefore the battery, is systematically submitted to vibrations due to a never perfect roadway.
Metal expanded technology is today eclipsed by Midac with the adoption of Punching Technology System. A system unique in the world, the first of this kind in the world, the system consists of two machines: the rolling-mill and the press. In turn the rolling mill consists in three melting ovens, casting wheels, rolling-mill assembly and the winder.
The press, the only one in the world that does not use lubricant during processing, is equipped with a mould with the footprint of the grids which is replaced according to the size of the battery to be produced.
